Michigan's largest planetarium offers star shows, planetarium programs and educational shows. School groups welcome.

The Robert T. Longway Planetarium was dedicated on June 26, 1958. Featuring 282 seats under an impressive 60-foot dome, the Longway Planetarium is Michigan’s largest planetarium.

The Longway Planetarium’s Learning Center provides opportunities for fascinating new learning experiences. These include hands-on science demonstrations, astronomy classes or telescope workshops.

Longway Planetarium is closed in observance of the following holidays: New Years Eve & Day, Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve & Day.

Super Sky Show
February 1- 23, 2014 Saturday & Sunday at 12:30pm
It’s a talk show with a twist: host Seymour Sky has guest “stars” that really shine. Clap, sing and play along with Seymour as children enjoy a sky safari to visit animal constellations, counting the stars of the Big Dipper, clapping along to songs and having a few laughs along the way. Enjoy a tour of the nighttime sky with host Seymour Sky and guests including the Sun, Earth, Queen Cassiopeia, and a MYSTERY guest! Recommended for ages 4 and older.

Are We Alone?
February 1- 23, 2014 Saturday & Sunday at 2:00pm
A Longway Planetarium Original...For hundreds of years people have looked to the stars and wondered if we are alone. Today we live in an unprecedented age of exploration of the Universe.  Robots explore Mars; giant telescopes look for worlds around other stars, radio telescopes listen for tell-tale signs of life out there. Is there life on Mars?  Is there life on one of the exo-planets? Are we alone? We are getting closer to the answer. Recommended for ages 10 and older.

Great Space Chase Laser Show
February 1- 23, 2014 Saturday & Sunday at 3:30pm
An out of this world educational laser show highlighting the planets and solar system featuring music from science fiction films and space-themed rock. The Intergalactic Accelerator Suit has been stolen! Lieutenant Photeus and the computer glitch, Thacker, set off in hot pursuit of the sinister Captain Zenon. Learn about the Solar System and the universe around us with this exciting, music-filled laser show. Songs include tunes by Madonna, U2, Paul Okenfold, Monty Python and Red Nexx. Recommended for ages 4 and older
